Charles Bettes promoted to Managing Director

6th July 2018

We are delighted to announce that GPAD’s Charles Bettes has been promoted to Managing Director. Company founder and incumbent managing director Christopher Ploutarhou will now become chairman.

Charles has a proven track record of designing high quality buildings. Notable projects he’s been involved in are Wittering House, which won both Best London Home and the Grand Prix of the Evening Standard New Homes Award 2018 as well as being shortlisted for AJ’s Small Projects Awards 2018. Brunel House in Cardiff and Chamber Street in London are other key buildings he has been involved in.

Charles started at GPAD as an architect 12 years ago and completed his professional training while at the practice.

Commenting on the appointment Christopher Ploutarhou, Chairman, says “Charles is a wonderful architect focused on creating buildings that improve lives. He is incredibly client-focused and understands how good design adds value commercially. Not only this, he lives and breathes the GPAD ethos and is a motivational leader who brings the team with him.  His remit is to grow and develop the team and the practice.”

Charles Bettes, Director, comments: “GPAD is made up of phenomenal people who together produce some outstanding work. I love the ethos here where you are always encouraged to try out new ideas and stretch yourself. This is highly motivating. When you do good work, it’s recognised and acknowledged. Our team is highly supportive, collaborative and questioning. People are always ready to step up and be ambitious both for our clients and ourselves. I’m really looking forward to growing the practice and seeing our designs become reality.”
