Description

As part of a wider strategy to regenerate underused city centre land, this ambitious proposal will bring forward over 1,450 new homes, embedded within a generous, biodiverse landscape inspired by the nearby Peak District. A key focus of the design process has been to integrate new homes within a layered network of pocket parks, residential courtyards, and public open spaces, all stitched together by the revitalised Porter Brook corridor.

At the heart of the scheme, the reimagined Moorfoot building will act as a civic anchor - offering characterful new homes and a curated mix of retail and public-facing uses, fronting onto a major new destination space: Fitzwilliam Square.

A series of landmark tall buildings will define the emerging skyline and act as wayfinding markers from the south, establishing a strong visual identity and reinforcing the site’s role as the southern gateway to the city centre.

Rooted in place and informed by its natural and urban context, the project sets out to create a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood, blending city living with access to nature, and celebrating the unique landscape and industrial legacy of Sheffield.
